Meet the team
We couldn’t devise the most intelligent approach to car ownership without a great team.
Passing your driving test is a rite of passage for many. Growing up in Cornwall in England (think Margaret River if you haven’t heard of it, rural, big and beautiful) getting the freedom of a car was invaluable and passing first time as soon as possible was a must. My Dad’s Vauxhall Chevette served me well around the narrow lanes but struggled up the steep hills!
I arrived in Australia in 2004 and my trusty 1989 Ford Falcon Estate helped me from Sydney to Cape Tribulation and back. The focus of car journeys these days is less adventurous, more about the safety, child seats and the size of the boot for prams! Maybe I should get that Falcon back…
Not having the option of novating before, I haven’t been able to. However, the next car may well have 7 seats in it, so I am busy building the list of contenders!
The first car I owned was a 1989 Ford Falcon Estate, red. Bought from fellow backpackers it came with a tent, fishing gear and an esky.
Driving to my home in Cornwall. Big hills, winding roads and great views of the countryside. That’s when it’s a real joy to have gears. When returning home after being away for a while, there is a real thrill to cresting the hill from which I can see the sea and my home town for the first time.
Passion is often mentioned in business, and that’s what I have found at Autopia. A real passion for getting the right car for every customer on the right term. It’s a great team and we have the autonomy to make things happen.
