Sadly, the Christmas season is not a happy time for many children in need around Australia. This year, as we have done for the past three years, Autopia is supporting Barnardos’ Gifts for Kids toy drive to ensure that Australia’s most vulnerable children don’t go without a gift during the festive period.
Supporting the Christmas appeal is a year round initiative at Autopia, and one entirely driven by our staff, who once a quarter organise a ‘Barnardos Lunch’. That day, our finest cooks at Autopia prepare some amazing dishes for the entire staff and a donation is requested in exchange for some yummy homemade treats.
This year was no different, raising over $2,400 worth of toys through staff contributions and Autopia’s donation matching program, bringing our overall contribution through the past three years to nearly $8,000.
In addition to all the donations, some of our employees will utilise their “give back” – a day per year, that our staff can work for their charity of choice – to help Barnardos wrap the thousands of toys received on December 19.
We are very proud and look forward to our Barnardos lunches and further supporting thousands of vulnerable children around Australia in 2017.
Please remember it’s never too late to help a child in need.
For over 120 years Barnardos has been at the forefront of providing child welfare services and has embraced a tradition of innovation and holistic approach in their quest to find real, permanent solutions for Australian children in desperate need.
Barnardos builds relationships between children, young people, their families and the community. They advocate for children and young people and contribute to community knowledge about the issues that impact on society as a whole. By supporting the work of Barnardos, you can create new dreams and outcomes to offer the adults of tomorrow a future free from neglect.
