Noticed some letters missing from our logo? There is a good reason for it. It is to highlight the fact that supplies of blood types A, B and O are going missing, Autopia is dropping the letters A and O from its logo, and supporting Australia’s Red Cross Blood Service #MissingType campaign to raise awareness of the need for thousands of new donors.
Although many people already donate blood regularly, including Autopia staff, which do so once a quarter, the gap between supplies and the need for transfusions has never been wider.
In Australia, one blood donation is needed every 24 seconds, but unfortunately, this is not a well-known fact, and the majority of us don’t even know our blood type.
Australia is one of 62 countries that collect 100% of its blood supply from voluntary unpaid donations, and to meet patients needs Australian Red Cross Blood Service needs 100,000 new donors in the next year.
Save lives, give blood
If you’ve never given blood before, you can pledge to donate right now and help fill the gap.
Also, you can support the campaign by using the #missingtype and tagging @redcrossblooodau.
